Your role

Digitalization is ingrained in GB's DNA. Processes will transform, simplifying life both within and outside GB, often imperceptible to BASF colleagues. Digital tools within GB will streamline tasks, allowing more focus on essential activities like consulting service recipients. Time freed up by these tools will be utilized to actively shape the division's digital footprint and aid internal partners.

The GB Strategy entails turning the Kuala Lumpur Hub into a digital hub to bolster BASF. The GBC Supply Chain team is on the lookout for an outstanding data scientist to contribute to the development of new digital tools that enhance operational efficiency.

Main Tasks:

• You will work closely with operations to identify business requirements and structure them into actionable and meaningful objectives.
• You will use your knowledge of data science to use statistical and machine learning techniques to work with big data to create predictive and prescriptive solutions that provide users with key insights.
• You will work with R, Python, Spark, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to build prototype models for proof of concept and pave the way for new digitalization tools.

Training & Development

Interns will acquire a thorough understanding of the dynamic field of global supply chain management. Throughout your term, practical experience within an international company will be offered, providing exposure to daily challenges, processes, and insights from dedicated and skilled teams. Expect challenging tasks with significant responsibility across various projects, integrating you into the team from the onset. On-the-job training will be provided, ensuring you become integral team members.

About you

Here’s what BASF's are looking for in this role:

• Pursuing a Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering, or in a similar field
• Able to commit 6 months of full-time internship
• Strong knowledge in working with R, Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and/or Spark
• Strong knowledge in working with SQL, Azure, and cloud databases
• Familiarity with Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence model building
• Self-driven and takes initiative to learn and experiment
• Open-minded with diversity and strong communication skills
• Great analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
