Job Summary

This scope is to support Maxis on a corporate level as well as five key divisions (Consumer Business, Enterprise, Network & Technology, S&S and P&O) in designing and implementing communications programmes. This comes up to an average of five media activities per month, in addition to any Adhoc requests, projects and BAU activities

Responsibilities

  • Drive media-related activities and programmes for all key divisions to ensure positive publicity, including end-to-end planning, development and implementation of PR campaigns
  • Research, plan, strategise and develop content for media consumption, including press releases, talking points for spokespersons, Q&A documents, articles, video scripts and infographics
  • Coordinate press conferences, product/campaign launches, media interviews and media briefings, ensuring media needs and requirements are met with the highest standards
  • Amplification of stories via other Maxi's channels through repurposing content for Yammer and LinkedIn to maximise reach coverage and visibility
  • Conduct research on industry trends and relevant government policies in order to craft appropriate articles to position Maxis as a thought leader
  • Enhance rapport and working relationships with the local media (key stakeholder group) and tech blogs by developing and executing a media engagement plan on a regular basis, which includes media relationship-building activities such as junkets, visits, luncheons and get-togethers.
  • Build reports and dashboards for Management to measure media value, reach, and comparisons against competitors. This includes analysis of news and appropriate recommendations to assess and benchmark against competitors’ performance.
  • Plan and keep track of media activities on a regular basis by coordinating with the respective business units on any upcoming campaign/ product launches. 
  • Undertake crisis management, including organising quarterly meetings with Crisis Council, updating crisis communications toolkit periodically and working closely with relevant departments to respond to the media through communication channels.

Requirements

  • Must have the ability and experience to create appropriate content for press releases, social media, websites and other distribution channels.
  • Must have the experience and ability to write well in both English and BM for various content that we want to develop to support the businesses and for effective media campaigns.
  • Strong media contacts in both business and tech is an advantage. 
  • Experience creating storyboards and video scripts for content development is an advantage 
  • Must be resourceful in doing research to look for the right sound bites for compelling content.
  • Must have the ability to think strategically with a creative mindset, with sound capabilities in planning and execution, eg putting together a key message story house, media engagement proposal etc. 
  • Understanding of social media landscape and the ability to optimize it.
  • The right attitude, being energetic, taking the initiative, being passionate etc will matter.
