Job Summary

As an Associate  Director, you will be responsible for managing the Asia-Pacific Finance Centre of Expertise (APAC Finance COE) towards the Finance Target Operating Model and strategic objectives, leading the migration of agreed Finance functions to Malaysia per the APAC Finance TOM, leading the Finance functions in the COE such as Accounts Payable and Financial Control, support the Finance teams across APAC by delivering a consistent first-class service in line with SLAs and evidenced through agreed upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). 

Also, to recruit, mentor and develop a high performing team that exhibits values consistent with RBC’s Leadership Model and collaborate with APAC Heads of Finance and delegates to ensure effective internal controls and governance in line with RBC policies and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and execution of the Finance COE migration strategy, collaborating effectively with stakeholders in achieving the COE’s objectives. 
  • Implement COE Key Performance/Control Indicators, regularly synchronizing with internal stakeholders and reporting on KPIs/KCIs to determine COE effectiveness and service levels. 
  • Serve as a point of accountability for the COE ensuring service levels are met and/or exceeded and all operational metrics are trending in a positive direction.
  • Provide oversight of the financial accounting deliverables undertaken within Malaysia including, but not limited to, Accounts Payable, Financial Control and Statutory Reporting.
  • Ensure processes and standards of documentation are aligned with best practices and enforce operational discipline through current and well-maintained documentation
  • Act as a change agent and drive operational efficiencies through process automation and standardization; enhance output and reduce non-value-added activities
  • Support the local Head of Finance by providing input on strategy, priorities and team management, including succession planning for key roles.
  • Manage the COE by creating an environment that fosters professional development through goal setting, performance management, consistent and regular coaching, training and mentoring.

Requirements

  • Degree and Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CIMA, ACCA, etc.) required Experience in a range of Finance roles within a Banking capacity, e.g. Financial Control, Product Control and Accounts Payable.
  • Experience managing teams > 5 FTE.
  • Working knowledge of a range of Financial Services, including Capital Markets, Wealth Management, and Custody and Asset Servicing as well as knowledge and application of accounting concepts within a Financial Institution.
  • Ability to manage concurrent initiatives and prioritize work according to strategic goals.
  • High level of collaboration and conflict management, including a thoughtful approach to gaining organizational buy-in.
  • Stakeholder management with attention to client service.
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong control mindset and understanding of relevant accounting practices.
