Your role

As an Instrument Technician, you will do the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Adhere to safe working practices and conditions. Carry out maintenance work in a safe manner and strictly adhere to the Company HSSE system and procedures along with good housekeeping practices.
  • To execute the HEMP and Safety Critical Activities in accordance with specific performance standards as per AMS processes & align with CD&A for safe and reliable operation.
  • Continuously updates the computerized maintenance management system SAP for the recording of instrument maintenance data, creating and maintaining an efficient maintenance environment. Ensures all maintenance documentation is completed correctly, particularly the maintenance log type of fault, works carried out, and time.
  • Participates in regular safety and housekeeping audits.
  • Assist Senior Technicians in carrying out an instrument or QMI field activities during major shutdowns.
  • Assist Senior Technicians to execute IPF tests and recording the results.
  • Executes standard daily maintenance activities such as preventive maintenance jobs, minor repair, reconditioning, installation, and workbench calibration on individual field instruments or QMI to meet high on-stream availability, reliability, and plant integrity independently.
  • Able to troubleshoot simple loops, investigate causes of System cabinet alarms, and able to work on redundant digital systems such as replacing components and returning the system to standby position.
  • Supervises, if required, work carried out by contractor personnel and ensures that the activities are carried out safely in accordance with the agreed work procedures and/or permits.

About you

If you are interested to join as an Instrument Technician at Shell Malaysia, you must have the following requirements:

  • Diploma or Certificate in electrical, electronic, or instrument engineering with at least 4 years of working experience in field instrumentation in a Petrochemical or Oil and Gas Refinery environment.
  • Fresh Graduates are still welcome to apply.
  • Knowledge of specific Conventional Instruments and QMI maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of IPF testing practices and awareness of IPF methodology.
  • Conversant with the full integration of the control system with IPS and other instrument sub-systems.
  • Technically conversant with process controls. Good team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization. The ability to work across the multi-cultural society of Malaysia.
