What it Does: Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (7949-M), best known as SOPB is the pioneer of commercial oil palm planting in Sarawak.
Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad, SOPB, a leading Sarawak-based plantation company, was incorporated in 1968 to spearhead the commercialization of oil palm cultivation in Sarawak. SOPB was listed on the Bursa Malaysia Main Board in August 1991.
SOPB has since then expanded its land bank to over 122,000 hectares, with 88,000 hectares planted with oil palm trees. Oil palm plantation and the production of crude palm oil and palm kernels will continue to remain as the sole core business of SOPB.
SOPB has created many job opportunities for the people of Sarawak. Over the years, SOPB has trained hundreds of planters and engineers in the state and contributed a significant role in developing the palm oil industry.
